Storm Over The Dunes

It was the first day of our beach vacation.  We got up early to run to the grocery store to pick up a few items we needed.

We drove down the beach road, the sun shining, blue sky as far as the eye could see. We turned left and drove two blocks to get on the highway near Jockey'y Ridge.

To our dismay we saw this storm coming down from the north! The storm clouds were that color! Even though the sun was behind us, the colors on and around the dunes were muted.

By the time we turned into the store parking lot the rain was pouring down. We picked up our groceries and ran for the car! We were soaked.

That was the end of our sunny day at the beach. It rained hard the rest of the day and most of the night.

The next morning dawned clear, crisp, and sunny!  Let's go to the beach!

P.S. Can you see the sand blowing off the dunes in this painting?
